🎵 Circle time & transitions
Ten two-minute movement breaks
No-prep, no-equipment resets for the wiggly stretch between activities — because a body that has moved can sit.
- Weather storm — fingers drizzle, palms rain, stomps thunder, then the sun comes out and everyone freezes in a stretch.
- Animal parade — cross the rug as a crab, a flamingo, a bear, a butterfly. You call it, they become it.
- Statue garden — dance while you hum; freeze as a statue when you stop. Statues get admired out loud.
- Shake it out — shake one hand 5 times, the other 5, one foot, the other, then 4-3-2-1 faster each round down to a whisper-still finish.
- Row the boat — partners sit toes-to-toes, hold hands, and row. Sneaks in cooperation and crossing the midline.
- Balloon breath — inflate an imaginary balloon with big breaths, let it fly around the room, catch it, sit on it gently.
- Tightrope walk — a line of tape becomes a circus tightrope. Arms out, heel to toe, tiny steps.
- Mirror me — you move slowly, they mirror. Trade: a child leads, the room mirrors them.
- Push the wall — everyone pushes the wall as hard as they can for ten seconds. (Deep pressure is the fastest quiet-down there is.)
- Slow-motion race — cross the room as SLOWLY as possible. Last one there wins. Instant self-control practice.
